Longfellow is a community of approx 30,000 located in the southeast section of Minneapolis, located along the beautiful Mississippi River Gorge. The area is named after renowned poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, whose poem Song of Hiwatha brought worldwide fame to local natural attraction Minnehaha Falls. Bordered by Highway 55 to the west and the Mississippi River to the east, it is made of five smaller neighborhoods: Seward, Cooper, Hiwatha, Howe and Longfellow. The Midtown Greenway also features 5.7 miles of walking and bike paths, running through the Longfellow and Seaward neighborhoods.

Longfellow has a vibrant shopping, dining and entertainment scene. East Lake Street is a commercial corridor hosting an extraordinary collection of cafes, restaurants, and pubs serving food from around the world, including Town Talk Diner, Sonora Grill, and Craftsman, as well as many unique local shops. The area also features the Minnehaha Mile, a biking street that contains more antique, vintage, retro, and secondhand shops than any other commercial district in Minnesota.

Keeping with the retro theme, Longfellow’s Trylon Cinema is trip back in time. This tiny 90-seat venue shows classic films on authentic 35mm projectors six days a week.

The Lola Art Crawl is a popular annual free community festival featuring over 100 local artisans. Visitors take self-guided tours through 50 locations in the Longfellow neighborhood, enjoying arts and crafts in a variety of media.
